Colorgrading

WHAT IS IT?

Color grading is the unsung hero of content creation, from still imagery to cinema. It is an essential part in content creation. While there is a plethora of software packages that excel at helping artists change and adjust color, color grading really applies to the creative thought process in why color needs to be adjusted, rather than color correction. This technology can be used to denote mood, character, and time. Considering a color look for a creative project before production is an essential part of any process. For cinematic production, color grading is a creative decision taken by a creative individual or team on how best to represent the story being told through the use of color.  The videographer must ensure to shoot in the most flexible way possible, creating raw footage, which guarantees that decisions regarding color grading can be made all the way through final edit.  The same process follows for images, it allows to drastically change the mood, which can be used to help further the story or convey something about a particular character or setting.
